$2.0 Million – Workers’ Compensation

Our 29-year-old client worked as an operator at a steel mill. He experienced bilateral above-the-knee amputations after being run over by a rail car. He was admitted to the ICU at VCU Hospital, where his pregnant wife was also a patient. Our client’s child was born while he was in the ICU. Our client was initially told he would never walk independently because his stumps were too short. He refused to accept that and through his own research found a prosthetist in Oklahoma who specialized in prosthetic legs for amputees returning from Afghanistan with short residual limbs.

Attorney Craig Davis filed a claim to force the insurance carrier to pay for the client to fly to Oklahoma to be fitted and trained with these residual legs. After a lot of work, our client learned to job on modified running blades. Our amazing client returned to work at a job working in cyber security, where he earned a salary of $165,000. We obtained a settlement of $2,000,000 in his workers’ compensation claim.
